Senior Specialist, Back End Development · Ebrahim K. Kanoo
Resilient, cloud-first platforms for a 60-year automotive group.
Engineering leader and full-stack/cloud specialist with 16+ years building and operating production platforms across Bahrain and the wider GCC. I lead backend architecture and cloud strategy for Ebrahim K. Kanoo's technology team, and I build the integrations between systems that were never designed to talk to each other — Salesforce, Oracle EBS, Drupal — alongside the resilience tooling that keeps the estate standing.

Platforms delivered for
- Toyota
- Lexus
- Motorcity
- Jetour
- Deepal
- CMC
- Denso
Signature work
A regional AWS outage, absorbed without a minute of downtime.
I led the disaster-recovery response when a major AWS region failed, moving every brand off the affected infrastructure while customers kept booking, ordering, and browsing. The cross-region backup and DR automation behind it is tooling I designed and still maintain.

Platforms with operational impact
Each of these replaced a manual process, a spreadsheet, or a separate one-off build. They run in production today across the group's dealership network.
Cross-Region DR & Backup Automation
Gave the group a rehearsed way to survive the loss of an entire AWS region — and then proved it in production during a real outage.
Automation that replicates infrastructure and data across regions and orchestrates failover. Under a major regional failure it moved 181 origins and 320 services across every brand with zero downtime.

- Failover automation
- Backup
- AWS
Salesforce / Oracle EBS / Drupal Integration Layer
Ended the manual reconciliation between CRM, ERP, and the published website by making them share a single view of the truth.
Services that keep customer, content, and ERP records consistent across three platforms with no native interoperability, without forcing any of them to change how they work.
- Salesforce
- Oracle EBS
- Drupal
- Data sync
Toyota & Lexus Parts Ordering Platform
Moved fleet and dealer parts ordering off manual channels and onto a self-service portal, giving the parts business a single auditable order pipeline.
React and Vite frontend over a fully serverless AWS backend — Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway — designed to stay responsive under dealership peak load.
- React
- Vite
- Lambda
- DynamoDB
- API Gateway
Multi-Brand Service Booking Platform
One booking experience serving several marques, so a new brand launches on proven foundations instead of a fresh build.
Brand-aware business rules, workshop capacity and scheduling workflows, and a shared component system across Toyota, Lexus, Motorcity, and Denso.
- Multi-tenant
- Scheduling
- Design system
- Serverless
EKK Price Checker
Put live parts pricing in the hands of counter and showroom staff on whatever device they already carry.
Mobile-first progressive web app with barcode scanning, offline-ready caching for weak-signal areas of the workshop, and multi-region AWS deployment.
- PWA
- Barcode scanning
- Offline-first
- Multi-region
Deepal Spec Stand
Gave a new EV marque a showroom-grade configurator at launch, with imagery that loads instantly on the stand and on mobile.
Vehicle specification configurator backed by an S3-triggered image processing pipeline that derives optimised renditions automatically on upload.

DynamoDB ↔ Drupal Content Sync
Ended the drift between what marketing published and what operational systems served, without forcing either side to change tools.
Backend synchronisation service that projects Drupal entities into DynamoDB, keeping customer-facing content and operational data consistent.

Capabilities
From the business problem to the pipeline
Digital transformation stalls when strategy and delivery sit in different rooms. I work across both.
Backend & cloud architecture
Setting the technical direction for the group’s platforms — service boundaries, data models, and serverless AWS designs sized to stay cheap at rest and elastic at dealership peak.
- Lambda
- DynamoDB
- API Gateway
- CloudFront
- Terraform
- S3
Resilience & disaster recovery
Cross-region backup and DR automation for the whole estate, proven under a real regional AWS failure rather than a tabletop exercise.
- Cross-region DR

About
Close to the operation, accountable after launch
I started building websites in Kerala in 2009 and have spent most of the years since inside one of Bahrain's largest automotive groups — first as a webmaster owning the estate, now setting its backend architecture and cloud strategy. The problems kept getting more interesting, so I stayed.
Showrooms, workshops, and parts counters generate real constraints: peak-hour load, patchy signal in a service bay, six brands with six different rulebooks, and an ERP that was never meant to talk to a CRM. Solving those properly means understanding the operation, not just the ticket — and being accountable for what happens at 2am, not only at launch.
I am now looking for a broader engineering leadership role: building and mentoring teams, owning technical strategy, and driving digital transformation at scale — in Bahrain or internationally.
How I work
Start where the business hurts
The best digital work begins on the workshop floor and at the parts counter, not in a backlog. I scope from the operational bottleneck backwards.
One platform, many brands
Shared foundations with brand-aware rules beat six separate builds. It is the difference between a portfolio of websites and a digital estate.
Ship it safely, ship it often
Automated pipelines, least-privilege cloud access, and infrastructure as code turn releases from an event into a routine.
Leave the system better documented
Systems outlive the people who build them. Clear handover, readable code, and open answers to public questions are part of the job.
Recognition
Work the business noticed
Recognised twice at group level for the technology behind the customer and dealer experience.
